I finally mostly completed the programming of the Quotations and Factoids databases. I started this project a couple of years ago and put it on hold. Then this year as my programming abilities improved I took it back up. Truthfully I probably putzed around with them for 2 months. But I think I finally got them to nice places.
I loaded about 28,000 quotations from various sources pretty much unsorted. I will probably work on them in the coming years to refine and improve plus add my quotations collections, manually.
Generally, my favorites will be rated 7.5 and higher. When I load in a database I start at something like a rating of 5 or 6.
At Insitu I was a strong believer in endorsing that dogs were allowed in the workplace. There were certainly some challenges as we got bigger, but ultimately it was viewed as an excellent trademark and environment for the company. My pups (Pixie and Angel) grew up at Insitu and were there for my entire run at the helm.
Now research is coming out in support of the value and measurable contributions.
The Economist reported here that dogs improve efficiency. A study by Central Michigan University showed that better collaboration and team work could be measured with the presence of dogs.
The Science Daily reported here that dogs help to reduce stress and improve morale in study conducted by Virginia Commonwealth University.
